Analog Africa Selection Vol.1

This mix is to celebrate the release of our compilation "African Scream Contest" which is going to be released in the UK tomorrow, March 17th 2008 and few weeks later in the other territories. I had initially made this mix to promote the crazy Africadelay party in Frankfurt on myspace (www.myspace.com/africadelay) .
The response was such that I decided to make it more accessible via my blog and Julien´s (a.k.a Djouls from Parisdj.com) website where you´ll find a mastered version. The one here is the raw and original one....you now can have both. This is a selection of tracks I found during my last three months trip which took me to five African countries. This is the first Volume....do let me know if you´d want me to carry on. (S)

Special thanks to Phabao

Revatialises this jaded palette. Excitement. Like the first time you ever heard over-loud, over-rythmic, over-adrenaline-charged music. Keep it up!

My first teaching job was in Nigeria in 1970-72 and the music was wonderful,so was the dance. Cardinal Rex Lawson, Ebenezer Obe, Fela of course, juju music at its best, Sunny Ade, all had a huge following - do you just do francophone africa or all of it? Look forward to buying your album, is it in FNAC? jane

Any possibility of a track list on your hot mix?
They DO have the CD on Amazon in US, but it's out of stock already on Dusty Groove. Killer stuff.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the comments. There are few shops selling "african Scream contest" in the states till Stones throw/Now Again release it in June, I´m thinking of Dusty groove and few others. Otherwise its available via amazon and the prices are better then imports. Otherwise its distributed in Germany and in the UK and will be available in France/Australia/Japan in the next few weeks. You can always get it directly from me obviously: analogafrica@yahoo.com

Just got my copy of African Scream Contest. That's what it is, man.
A Frickin' Scream Contest. Wowee Zowee.
I am loving this. The music here has been difficult or impossible to obtain in USA for the past 30 years. I know. I've tried.
THANK YOU for making it available at an affordable price.

Lovin' the mix and meanwhile keepin' an eye out for African Scream Contest vinyl in US. Can't wait!

Hi there! I just picked up African Scream Contest at an import price of $21.99 at a local record store. I've listened to the first half of it, and all I can say is that it is nothing short of incredible. Funky, fuzzy, psychedelic and groove-heavy. Please keep on offering free Mp3's and mixes. They are definitely appreciated.

Peace, Kevin

Any track listings for Vol 1 and Vol 2. ? These mixes have been in my collection for a while, I recently rediscovered them and was curious of the specifics. I have since bought the other 7 volumes in the Analog Africa series thus far. For fans of mid 70s african rock funk and soul, we live in exciting times. Cheers !

Hey!

Love these mixes.

I got turned on to Afro Funk by a guy who DJ'd my friends birthday party on Treasure Island in San Francisco. In addition to spinning excellent tracks and having an expert knowledge of fly fishing, he was also well versed in the art of nest building, knowledge which he had used to fashion a nest for himself on top of a building in Oakland. Never got around to asking him what he did in the rain.

Anyways, much thanks for the mix. A track-listing would be most appreciated!
