Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - Gbeti Madjro

Here a little "summer present" for all the people who have supported Analog Africa in recent years.
2008 has been a very exciting year and a humbling experience, thank you!!
This video was especially edited by Mario Stahn (from Rockstahn Media in Frankfurt) for Analog Africa using 45 minutes of video material found in various places in Africa. One of them I got in Niamey and shows Orchestre Poly-Rythmo performing Gbeti Madjro in front of "La Voix du Sahel", Niger´s state owned broadcaster.

great work ! I love this song, and together with the video it´s even better !
I found the seven inch as a ghanaian pressing on my last trip, and on this pressing the band is titled as
"L´orchestre les Dynamics", crazy.
have you ever heard of the song
"Mi kpon bo do" ? it is on the flip.

Hi Klaus, yes I know the ghana pressing, its a bootleg and its slightly faster then the original. Mi kpon bo do is also on the compilation released by EMI in the early 70s, great track

Holy Shit this is AMAZING. Thanks so much for posting this. Wonderful to see footage of Poly Rythmo in action. Speaking of supporting Analog Africa, I'd like to do it even more by finding out when that Vincent Ahehehinnou & Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou Dahomey 4 tracker will be available to purchase in the USA. Keep it up!

this is absolutely badass music: the drummer is fearsome, the guitar is vicious, and this singer, man James Brown has nothing on this guy!

I have the album and it keeps playing on a daily basis, but the video adds a wicked touch. thank you thank you thank you.

Hi Samy,

Thanks for getting these video organized. It's so rare to see original footage; it's the first time I've seen a Poly-Rythmo clip!

Looking forward to the Vincent Ahehehinnou release!

This is absolutely incredible. I've been loving this track since I got the CD last summer--but this video adds a whole new dimension. Orchestre Poly-Rythmo really was Tout Puissant!
